System Unit
The parts of computer can be divided into three categories-
-Input Devices
-Output Devices
-System unit
* System unit the most important part of the computer because CPU is installed inside in it.
* System unit is box that contains the following devices.
Motherboard
The motherboard is a printed circuit board and foundation of a computer that is the biggest board in a computer chassis.
It allocates power and allows communication to and between the CPU, RAM, and all other computer hardware and components.
Power Supply Unit
Computer works on electricity. It receives electricity from the power supply and charges into a current that works for our computer. The component of computer needs very low voltage current supply.
They need low voltage current, a device which converts high voltage current to low voltage current is required by them. This device is called the power supply unit. It place inside the system.
This is a device placed inside the system unit for providing direct current electricity. This battery is require to update time and calendar running even when the computer is switched off.1. RAM(Random Access Memory)
2. ROM(Read Only Memory)
1. RAM(Random Access Memory)
RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is also called read and write memory. It hold data and programs that are needed by the user while working.
ROM stands for Read Only Memory. It hold data permanently but information can only be read and not written on ROM.
CPU
CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. It is also called the brain of a computer. It carries all the instructions given by the operator.
Input-Output Ports
Ports is an interface through which data is transferred between a computer and other devices.
You can also see ports on the outside of the computer box where you plug in different hardware from inside they are connected to the expansion cards.
All the parts such as printer, mouse, keyboard or monitor arre plugged into the ports.
Ports are of two type-
1. Serial Port
2. Parallel Port
Hard Disk
It is a mass storage magnetic medium. It uses a rigid material disk for mass storage of data. there will be only one hard disk in a system.
CD Drive
A CD drives is an electro mechanical device that reads data stored in compact disks.
It is a socket in a computer designed to hold expansion board and connect them to the system. Expansion slot are means for adding or enhancing the computer configuration and capabilities.
