 What is Hardware ?

Hardware refers to the physical component of computer. Computer Hardware are those parts which we can touch. It has four main categories Input Device, Output Device, Storage and Internal Components.

Example- Monitor, Printer, CPU, Keyboard, Mouse etc.

What is Software ?  

Software is a set of programs to perform specific task on computer. It is a collection of instruction, procedure and documentation that perform different task on a computer system. Software are of two types System Software and Application software.

Example- Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint, Google Chrome, MySQL, Photoshop, etc.

System Software

System Software is a  part of operating System which interface with Hardware to perform specific task. Software is a necessary part to run harware and application software.  The Common programming language which is used to develop system software are C++, C, Java, Python etc.

Some example of system software are operating system, compilers,  interpreters, device drivers.

Application Software

 Application software is a software which perform specific task for user. Some application software are Excel spreadsheet to maintain the school record, University Management system for maintain student record, School management system,  Microsoft word, Internet Browser like google chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox etc.  

Difference Between Hardware and Software

Hardware	Software
1.Hardware is a physical parts of computer.	1.Software is a set of instruction that tells a computer exaclty what to do.
2.It is manifactured at somwhere.	2.It is developed by Engineer.
3.Hardware cannot perform any task without Software.	3.Software cannot be executed without the help of hardware.
4.It has mainly four categories-Input Device, Output Device, Storage, Internal Components.	4.It is mainly devided into System Software and Application Software.
5.Hardware is Tangible.	5.Software is Intangible.
6.When Hardware is Damaged it can be replaced by new one.	6.While when Software is damaged, Its backup copy can be reinstalled.
7.Example-Keyboard, Mouse, Moniter, CPU, RAM, ROM, etc.	7.Example-Microsoft office, Google Chrome, Photoshop, etc.
